The Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Health Directorate has taken pragmatic steps to help reduce the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR).
The Municipality’s record of 194 per 100,000 births in 2017, dropped to 152 per 100,000 last year.
This was revealed by the Municipal Director of Health, Peter Ofori Tweneboah, in an interview at Sefwi Wiawso, capital of the Western North Region.
He said despite the drop in the maternal mortality ratio, the Municipal Directorate of Health Services is not impressed with the figures and wants to reduce it further.
Mr Ofori Tweneboah called on the public especially pregnant women to visit hospitals regularly for antenatal care to help reduce the MMR in the Municipality to save more lives.
