Six provisional candidates cleared for Mauritania presidential poll

Mauritania’s Constitutional Court has cleared six Presidential aspirants on provisional basis for the country’s upcoming polls.

Campaigning in the West African nation is expected to kick off on Friday, two weeks to the day of vote.

Mauritanians will go to the polls to elect a new president for the next five years.

Incumbent Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz steps down after spending two constitutionally mandated terms.
