The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu has recognized the important role sports development plays in empowering young people of the Volta Region.
Hon. Gunu believes that investing in sports development can unlock the full potential of local talent, providing a platform for them to be marketed.
“Sports development is key. I see huge potential in the region that we can unearth and market.” Hon. James Gunu said.
He made this remark during a meeting with the regional chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) – Volta/Oti, who paid a courtesy call to congratulate him on his recent appointment.
Expressing his readiness for innovative ideas and recommendations to enhance sports development in the region, the minister suggested holding a breakfast meeting with the sports media.
The purpose is to suggest creative ways and solutions that can help promote sports talent and infrastructural development in the region.

Since taking office, the minister has prioritized sports development and has demonstrated his commitment through initiatives such as the Volta Regional Minister’s Cup, a football tournament that fosters unity and showcases local talent.
He has also supported the National Sports Authority in illuminating the Ho Sports Stadium at night for security purposes.
Hon. Gunu believes that by investing in and creating opportunities in sports, the youth of the region can develop, thrive, and reach their full potential.
The minister was appointed as the Volta Regional Minister in January of this year during the second term of the John Dramani Mahama administration.
