The annulment of the election of James Gyakye Quayson by the Supreme Court as Member of Parliament, MP, for Assin North in the Central Region has been received by residents with mixed reaction.

Some contend the court issues has stifled development and hoped the annulment will pave the way for by-election.

Speaking to our Central Regional Correspondent Kingsley Nana Boadu following the Supreme Court decision, some others said they are saddened by the development as Mr. Quayson has been instrumental in the development of the constituency.

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, says the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Assin North MP’s case has come as a surprise to them.

According to him, there was no indication that the case was going to be ruled yesterday.

He explained that, since the court has spoken, they would be waiting for directives from the Party’s Headquarters before any action would be taken.
