Swift GNFS response saves 23 shops in Kejetia market fire

On January 24, 2025, a fire broke out at Kejetia Market, affecting two stores (S-1785 and S-1786) on the second floor. The GNFS swiftly responded, arriving at the scene within 6 minutes after receiving the distress fire call at 0527 hours. The fire was brought under control at 0547 hours and fully extinguished at 0558 hours.

Thanks to intensified patrols, swift response, and tactical firefighting efforts, the team salvaged 23 shops out of 25, preventing the fire from spreading further. Using two (2) 5kg CO₂ fire extinguishers, twenty-six (26) 6kg dry chemical powder extinguishers, and water through a hose reel, the GNFS minimized damage to the affected stores.

No injuries and fatalities were recorded. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. This rapid intervention highlights GNFS’s dedication to protecting lives and property in commercial hubs like Kejetia Market.
