The West Akyem Co-Operative Cocoa Farmers and Marketing Union known as Cocoa Life has commissioned a six-unit classroom block, staff common room and ICT lab for the Takorase DA Primary School in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region.

This was after the community made an appeal to the Union to come to their aid due to the deplorable nature of the school which was serving as a death trap for the pupils.

Takorase DA Primary School, since its establishment in 1955 with two classrooms and a bamboo structure, has not seen any renovation. This has rendered the school in a deplorable state with the classrooms serving as a death trap for the pupils.

A portion of the school roof has ripped-off, with the classrooms full of dust. These dilapidated two classrooms and the bamboo structure had accommodated pupils from Kindergarten to Primary Six.

Teaching and learning also come to a halt whenever there is a sign of rainfall. Meanwhile, there is a three-unit classroom block that is accommodating Junior High School pupils.

This challenge affecting teaching and learning in the primary school with teachers declining posting to the school, prompted the community to appeal to Cocoa Life to come to their aid.

The Union, considering the appeal of the community, has constructed, commissioned and handed-over a six-unit classroom block, a staff common room, sanitary facility and ICT Lab to the school.

The Head teacher of the School, Anthony Sowah while commending Cocoa Life for the gesture, reiterated that the facility has brought a sigh of relief to them as teachers which will help promote teaching and learning in the school.
