Most Tema schools are shifting toward more technologically based learning in order to keep up with global demands,
These institutions are also calling for the support of government and civil society organisations to promote their technical development.
Statistics show that Ghana’s literacy rate is 73.04 as of 2022. The report continues to show low rate in the technological capacities of Ghanaians as compared to the rest of the world.
Head Teacher at the St. Paul Methodist School, Mr. Sylvester Asiedu, speaking during the graduation ceremony of the 3rd year students of the school, said, “Technology is the order of the day and Ghana cannot afford to lack behind, hence more needs to be done.”
He said students with quality education in technology are in high demand on the global market, and it is important for schools to be more geared towards technological education. He called for more support from Government, civil societies, and individuals.
An entrepreneur and an old student of the school, Kofi Yeboah, encouraged the students to take their education seriously and learn more soft skills in addition to the technical skills to be able to work well in any environment they find themselves.
Some of the students who excelled in various subjects were awarded by the school as well as their parents at the graduation ceremony.
