Two people were shot and killed in Atuba, a community in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region. The attack happened on Monday, March 17, 2025, when gunmen on motorbikes opened fire at a busy market.
The victims were identified as Mohammed, a veterinary officer, and a local pastor. Both died instantly at the scene. The reason for the attack is not clear, but it is suspected to be linked to the ongoing Bawku conflict.
This latest incident brings the number of deaths from the conflict to about 76 since it restarted in October 2024.
Meanwhile, top leaders in Ghana, including the Asantehene, are working to restore peace and end the crisis.
