Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the United States and a meeting with President Donald Trump, the U.S. government has deported a second group of 119 Indian nationals who were residing in the country illegally.

This latest deportation arrives just ten days after the initial repatriation of 104 illegal Indian immigrants, who were also flown back to India on a U.S. military transport aircraft. Sources indicate that a third wave of deportees, numbering 157 individuals, is expected to arrive in Amritsar on Sunday night.

Among the 119 individuals deported in this second wave, the majority originate from the states of Punjab and Haryana. Specifically, 67 are from Punjab, 33 from Haryana, eight from Gujarat, and three from Uttar Pradesh. The remaining eight individuals hail from a mix of states, including Goa, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The group includes four women and two minors, one of whom is a six-year-old girl, with most of the deportees falling within the 18 to 30 age range.

These deportations come on the heels of Prime Minister Modi’s discussions with President Trump, during which key bilateral issues, including immigration, were addressed.

In a joint press conference, Modi affirmed India’s willingness to accept its citizens living illegally in the U.S. However, he also emphasized the critical need to combat human trafficking, identifying it as a significant driver of illegal migration.

Modi stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between the U.S. and India to dismantle human trafficking networks, which lure individuals with false promises and exploit them. He expressed confidence that President Trump would fully cooperate with India in eradicating this exploitative system.
