Government says the law on vigilantism will be strictly enforced. President Akufo-Addo who stated this, warned that individuals or groups that fall foul of the law will be dealt with accordingly.
The President who was speaking at the swearing in of three Ambassadors at the Jubilee House, said Vigilantism has no place in Ghana’s democratic space.
He called on all citizens to ensure a peaceful and orderly election period.
The three commissioned Envoys are Major General Charles Abedi Asumanin Awiti, assigned to Siberia, Career Diplomat Pepra Ampratwum, is, Ambassador in situ and Alhaji Fawaz Aliu, who is Deputy Chief of Staff has an additional role as Ambassador-at-Large.
“President Akufo-Addo was confident the new envoys will discharge their duties with the highest level of integrity and professionalism, to further strengthen Ghana’s diplomatic efforts worldwide.”
President reiterated his commitment towards ensuring free and fair polls in December, promising government’s action in curbing vigilantism. He also spoke about the recovery of Ghana’s economy, saying the indicators are visible.
Government says it is determined to enforce strictly the law on vigilantism. Any individual or group found culpable in falling foul of the law will be made to face its full rigors, President Akufo-Addo said.
Major General Awiti, on behalf of his colleagues, pledged to serve Ghana in an exemplary manner.
