WAEC releases 2022 BECE results

The West African Examination Council, WAEC, has released the results of candidates who sat for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.

In a press statement dated January 25, 2023, the Directorate stated that the results of 552,288 school and private candidates who sat for last year’s exams have been  released.

According to the statement, 578 school candidates and five private candidate results have been withheld by the Council pending investigations into issues of malpractices of various form including possession of foreign materials.

Out of the total, 489 school candidates and 5 private candidates have either subjects or entire results cancelled on offences of possession of foreign materials such as mobile phones and or colluding with other candidates.

The Council cautioned stakeholders to avoid fraudsters who advertise upgrade of results with a fee because all their results are secured and can be authenticated.

For the total number of candidates who sat for the examination, 276,999 were male candidates and 275,289 were female candidates, representing a 50.15% and 49.85%.
