WAFA SC will be chasing their first win in five matches when they host AshantiGold in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Academy Boys have drawn their last four league matches and have not won at home since 5 January, 2020 when they beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0.

But their 2-1 win in Kpando last Sunday against Division One League side Heart of Lions in the MTN FA Cup round of 32 tie should be a morale-booster.

Striker Eric Asamany has scored in back-to-back matches and his sharpness up front can be crucial for the Sogakope-based side.

WAFA have lost their fear factor at home after firing blanks in successive matches; not forgetting their 2-1 defeat to Liberty Professionals which ended at 46-match unbeaten run.

AshantiGold are on top of the Ghana Premier League with a one point lead.

The Miners have a compact team and their away performances have been impressive with one win in five matches.

They won at King Faisal and have drawn thrice against Legon Cities, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The four-time champions recently signed former Ghana Premier League goal king Nana Poku and the striker could make his debut.
