44th SWAG Awards launched

The 44th MTN SWAG Awards has been launched.

Unbroken for the past 43 years, the longest standing awards scheme in Ghana, the SWAG Awards, was launched at the MTN House, Ridge, Accra on Monday.

President the of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana, (SWAG), Kwabena Yeboah announced that the event slated for May 11, 2019 will be the held at the Accra International Conference Center.

He further stated that 34 individuals in nineteen categories will be awarded this year with the novelty of being the President Award.

He added that SWAG will host AIPS Africa in April. Kwabena Yeboah thanked headline sponsor MTN, and other partners for their sponsorship.

Head of Corporate Affairs, MTN Ghana, Samuel Koranteng, pledged their unflinching commitment to the development of Sports in Ghana and SWAG, and said that sponsorship package for this year will be announced later.

The Director- General, Professor Peter Twumasi, National Sports Authority, commended SWAG for their long standing commitment to sports development in Ghana and requested that sports writers should consider profiling sports men and women and also help discover talent for the country.
