The skipper of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew, is confident Ghana will sail through the group stages of the ongoing African Cup of Nations despite losing the opening game to Morocco at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
The captain made this known when journalists caught up with him after their 1-0 defeat to Morroco at the Media Tribune.
“We are very disappointed we conceded at the last minute, we showed a solid team versus one of the favorites of the tournament, I am very calm and confident that we will go to the next stage and that’s why we are here,” Andre Ayew said.
“We will learn from our mistakes in this game and make sure we don’t repeat them going forward, this is not going to be easy but we will surely go through,” he added.
Ghana must win its subsequent games against Gabon and Comoros on Friday, 14th January and Tuesday, 18th January respectively, to stand the chance of making it to the next stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, In the second Group C match, Gabon beat Comoros by a lone goal to become joint top with Morrocco by same goal margin.
