A Sofiane Boufal’s late strike in the 83rd minute was enough to give Morocco all the 3 points in their Group C opener against Ghana at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo’s Stadium in the ongoing African cup of nations.
Ghana’s quest of winning the AFCON is under immense threat following the 0-1 opening defeat against Morocco on Monday evening.
The Black Stars failed to convert their chances in the first half having won three quick corners but ended in a goalless draw.
In the second half, Joseph Paintsil and Kamaldeen Suleiman added some bites upfront yet failed to create a decent chance.
The exchanges got intense which forced captain Andre Ayewto join in the defensive duties which resulted in a head-on collision in the 70th minute.
In the 83rd minute, Moroccan forward Sofiane Boufalcapitalized on Ghana’s weak defense to find it late for the North Africans.
It was the only goal which distorted the Black Stars to their first defeat in the tournament.
Ghana must win her next game against Gabon to brighten their chances of progressing into the next stage.
