The Black Princesses on Saturday, March 9, 2024, took on Ethiopian under-20 women in the African Games women’s football match at the Cape Coast Stadium, where they secured a 1-0 victory to earn some vital points moving forward.
The match started on a good note for the Princesses, as they dominated the first half with their smooth passage play passing across the length and breadth of the field, leaving their opponent no chance but to fight back to earn possession of the ball.
As the first half neared a close, an unfortunate incident happened as the floodlights at the stadium went off in the 36th minute due to a power outage. This incident caused the match to be delayed for 20 minutes before everything went back to normal.
The second half continued on a promising note for Ghana as they showed signs of getting the first goal of the night with some good chances falling their way, which mounted some serious pressure on the defence of the Ethiopians. Comfort Owusu made no mistake in the 59th minute as she slotted home the first goal of the night to put Ghana in the lead.
Ghana will be looking to build on this victory when they face Tanzania in their next game on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
