Ghana‘s Abeiku Jackson makes another bold statement as he secures a bronze medal in the 100-metre butterfly finals. Jackson was topped by Abdalla Nasr from Egypt and Jarden Eaton from South Africa, who secured the gold and silver medals in the 100-metre butterfly final.

Jackson finished third in the 100-metre butterfly final with a time of 53.80, which earned him a bronze medal. His win in the 100-metre butterfly event increased his medal tally at this year’s swimming event to two and Ghana’s overall ranking to 5 in the 13th African Games.

Although there was some controversy surrounding the finals slated for Monday, March 11, 2024, Jackson came out second in that race. The race was eventually cancelled due to a false start at the beginning of which the swimmers couldn’t hear the whistle of the officials due to the crowd noise.

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the 23-year-old won his first Medal of the African Games by securing silver in the men’s 50-metre butterfly event with a time of 24.23. Jackson’s exploits in the event can’t be overlooked, as he has shown signs of winning more medals for Ghana.
