Another scintillating display from Ghana’s top female high jumper, Rose Amoanimaa, in the African Games. Rose Amoanimaa secured gold in the women’s high jump event after jumping a height of 1.90m.

Amoanimaa, coming into this year’s African Games, came to defend her gold medal she won in Morocco five years ago. She has been Ghana’s shining light when it comes to female high jump events. Her exploits, skills, and flair have continually improved.

With Amoanimaa’s efforts in the high jump event, Ghana’s gold medal tally clocks another addition, moving the count from 46 to 47 and also changing the gold medal count from 9 to 10, putting Ghana on double digits as they join the likes of Egypt, Nigeria, South Africa, and Algeria, who all are on double digits when it comes to gold medals.

Despite her incredible showings on the African continent, Rose Amoanimaa is yet to qualify for the Olympic Games. She attempted the qualifying mark of 1.97 metres, but the odds were against her during her third try at 1.94 metres, where she missed the mark by 0.03 metres.
