Ampem Darkoa miss out on Champions League final after penalty shootout defeat to SC Casablanca

Ghana Women’s Champions Ampem Darkoa have suffered a 3-2 defeat against SC Casablanca after an intense 2-2 draw in 120 minutes of action at the Stade de San Pedro stadium.

Comfort Yeboah secured an early lead for Ampem Darkoa with a penalty in the 7th minute.

SC Casablanca equalised the score at 1-1 in the 29th minute, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal from the initial goal scorer, Comfort Yeboah, resulting from a cross by Casablanca ladies winger Hajar Bouziani.

Ampem Darkoa regained the lead with a spectacular long-range shot from winger Jennifer Owusuaa, finding the top corner beyond the goalkeeper’s reach.

In the early second half, Casablanca ladies pressed to equalize, with Ageicha Appiah’s shot blocked by Martha Appiah in the 18-yard box.

SC Casablanca successfully leveled the score at 2-2 in the 57th minute from the penalty spot, converted by Agueicha Diarra following a tackle from Diana Amoako.

Despite several opportunities, Ampem Darkoa couldn’t respond to the penalty score, with Jennifer Owusuaa missing a one-on-one chance against the goalkeeper.

The Casablanca goalkeeper made a remarkable save in the 70th minute, thwarting another attempt from Ampem Darkoa.

As the second half approached its end, Ampem Darkoa nearly sealed the victory, but a brilliant tackle from the Casablanca defender kept the game level.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will now be hoping to finish on a high when they challenge for third place against ASFAR Club.
