Ghana international Andre Ayew has expressed his unwavering passion for football, stating that he has no intention of retiring anytime soon.

The veteran forward, who has been a significant figure in the sport for 18 years, continues to thrive in his career and remains dedicated to his craft. Ayew’s commitment to the game shines through as he reflects on his journey and the joy he finds in playing.

Since making his professional debut in 2005, Ayew has built an impressive career, marked by his first call-up to the Ghana national team in 2007 under coach Claude Le Roy. He has represented nine clubs throughout his career, showcasing his versatility and adaptability on the field. With a history of significant contributions to each team, Ayew is determined to keep making an impact as he continues to play.

In an interview with BBC Africa, Ayew shared his perspective on longevity in football, emphasising the importance of self-reflection.

“How long do you want to stay in the game? That’s the question you need to answer for yourself,” he stated. He acknowledged the value of surrounding oneself with good players and the wisdom that comes with experience, which allows players to navigate the game more effectively.

As Ayew continues to defy age and expectations, his love for football remains steadfast. “I love what I’m doing, and I’m not ready to stop,” he affirmed, signalling his intent to keep playing and inspiring the next generation of footballers.

Ayew’s current stint with Le Havre in Ligue 1 has seen him score three goals in nine starts, demonstrating his ability to perform at a competitive level. Despite his team currently sitting in 17th place in the league, Ayew remains optimistic about the future. His recent performances indicate that he still possesses the skills and drive to contribute significantly to his team.
