Black Princesses lose group opener against USA

After Captain  Evelyn Badu Badu sustained an injury that will take her out of the U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Black Princesses were in for a long game against USA at the Estadio Morera Soto.
While the Black Princess were without their captain, Michelle Copper was ready for the history books as she became the first Black player to captain the USA at any level at a FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The USA were off to a flying start as Captain Michelle Cooper latched on a pass from Laney Rouse gas she opened score with a header in the 11th minute.
The woes of the Princesses doubled after VAR confirmed a red card for Jacqueline Owusu  in the 31st minute for a foul on USA midfielder Korbin Albert reducing Ghana to 10 players.
Alyssa Thompson connected with Michelle Copper’s pass to beat Grace Banwa in post and double the lead for Team USA.
At half time, a goal each from captain Michelle Copper and Alyssa Thompson gave USA the lead while Ghana were down to 10 players meanwhile Ghana is down to 10 players.
The second was no different from the first half as USA’s substitute Ally Sentor who came in for Captain Michelle Cooper scored the third goal.
Coach Ben Forkuo’s introduction of Abdullai Mukarama and Rahma Jafar did little to nothing to the team. Unfortunately, the Black Princesses lost their U-20 World Cup opener to USA in Group D. In the oelther Group match, Japan won 1-0 against Netherlands.
The Princesses next game is against Japan on Sunday.
