Black Queens are set to face Morocco in an international friendly this month as part of their preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The match will take place at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca on Friday, February 21, marking a significant moment for the team as they gear up for the prestigious tournament. This friendly is crucial for the Black Queens as they aim to fine-tune their strategies and build team cohesion ahead of the continental competition.

Newly appointed head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren will be at the helm for his first match with the Black Queens against Morocco. Having taken over the coaching duties in January, Kim Lars replaces Nora Häuptle and is tasked with leading the team to success in the upcoming WAFCON. The friendly against Morocco will serve as an essential opportunity for the coach to assess the players’ performance and implement his game plan before the tournament kicks off.

The match against Morocco is one of two preparatory fixtures that the Black Queens have scheduled during the February 2025 women’s international match window. These friendlies are designed to give the team valuable experience and help them adapt to Bjorkegren’s coaching style. As the team prepares for the challenges ahead, the upcoming matches will play a vital role in their readiness for the competition.

Ghana faces a tough road in the 2024 WAFCON, having been drawn into Group C alongside strong contenders South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. The Black Queens are determined to make a mark in the tournament, which begins on July 5 in Morocco. With Bjorkegren at the helm, there is a renewed sense of optimism within the camp as the team seeks to improve on their previous performances and secure a place among the continent’s elite.
