Ghana’s Beach Soccer national team, the Black Sharks, have officially secured their place in this year’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt. This triumph comes after a commanding 5-2 victory against the Sand Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade Agora in Abidjan. The win marks a significant milestone for the team, showcasing their dominance and skill on the sandy pitch.
The Black Sharks’ path to qualification was paved with a strong 10-5 aggregate win over two legs. They had previously set the tone with a 5-3 win in the first leg held a week earlier in Keta. Their resilient performance in both matches demonstrated their capability to withstand pressure and deliver results under challenging circumstances.
In Abidjan, the Black Sharks faced a tough start, trailing by 2 goals to 1 after the first period. However, their approach in the second interval was nothing short of determined. Wise Nyamedi’s equaliser brought the score to 2-2, reigniting hope for the team. The crucial turning point came when skipper Alex Osah scored, giving the Black Sharks a 3-2 lead for the first time in the match.
As the game neared its conclusion, Ghana’s determination shone brightly. With the game approaching its climax, Precious Torgbor and Jude Aklie each found the back of the net in stoppage time. Their goals sealed a grand 5-2 victory, ensuring the Black Sharks’ qualification in spectacular fashion.
This accomplishment not only highlights the Black Sharks’ prowess but also places them on a promising path as they head to Egypt for the Beach Soccer AFCON. Fans and supporters can look forward to witnessing more thrilling performances from this resilient team.
