Wa All Stars bound goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has refuted media reports that some of his teammates disrespected Head Coach James Kwesi Appiah during the country’s embarrassing campaign in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana had its worst campaign in the history of the FIFA World Cup after managing just a point in three games at the tournament with issues off the pitch overshadowing the team’s performance on the pitch.
According to journalists who were with the team in Brazil the fractious nature of Ghana’s campaign was as a result of a breakdown of respect between coach Kwesi Appiah and his players.
But Dauda in an interview with GhanaWeb denied the reports and stated that most of the players in the team got the opportunity to play in the national team through Kwesi Appiah hence he doesn’t believe any player will even do that.
“That’s issue, I was surprised people were saying that because I’m not sure a player can do that’’ He said
‘’Coach Kwesi Appiah gave me my debut in the national team in 2013 and followed up by inviting me for the subsequent tournaments so personally I don’t think that a player could disrespect a coach’’ he added
Meanwhile, Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng were sacked from the camp for gross indiscipline before the last group game with Portugal but Dauda still denied the reports despite being there when these players were sacked from camp.
‘’When I was in the team with Coach Kwesi Appiah, I never witnessed such a situation in the Black Star camp, ’Dauda added.
