The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 announced the postponement of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 which was scheduled to take place in February 2025 . This decision was made after CAF’s technical and infrastructure experts assessed the host countries’ preparedness to stage the tournament.
The new dates for the TotalEnergies CHAN Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 have been set for August 2025. CAF and the host countries are committed to delivering a world-class tournament that showcases the best of African football. With the postponement, all stakeholders can now focus on finalizing the preparations and ensuring that the event is a resounding success.
Despite significant progress made in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in constructing and upgrading stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals, and other essential infrastructure, CAF’s experts believe that more time is needed to ensure that the facilities meet the required standards. The host countries have been working tirelessly to prepare for the tournament, but the experts’ assessment has prompted CAF to postpone the event.
