Black Stars coach Chris Hughton has revealed the major problem to solve ahead of the second group game against Egypt in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in La Cote d’Ivoire. Ghana kicked off their search for the trophy in a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Cape Verde in Group E.
In his attempts to right the wrongs after the defeat, coach Chris Hughton is aiming to work on his defensive unit for the big task on Thursday.
Ghana must beat the 7-time African champions to enhance their chances of making it beyond the group stage. Hughton believes the only way to appease the fans is to do everything possible and obtain ‘favourable results’ against the Pharaohs.
“You are judged on the result you had. This is what we have been doing all the time. And we have analysed the first game and I think we conceded two poorly defensive goals. We can always continue to work on the discipline, the shape and the determination of the team”.
The match against the Pharaohs is scheduled at 20:00GMT at Stade Félix-Houphouët-Boigny on Thursday.
