Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton, expressed his desire for the Black Stars to perform at a high level, aiming for victory at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars are poised to kick off their campaign against Cape Verde in the Group B opening game tomorrow, Sunday, at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, with the match scheduled to start at 8 pm GMT.
In anticipation of the clash, Hughton shared insights into the team’s preparations, highlighting a positive pre-tournament camp in Kumasi leading up to AFCON.
He emphasized the good spirit among the players and their readiness. Hughton stated, “Our objective is that we’re able to play at a good and high level that allows us to win the game.”
Ghana, vying for a fifth AFCON title, faces Cape Verde as they aim to overcome recent setbacks on the continental stage, including an early exit in the previous edition’s group stage.
The upcoming match at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium promises to be intriguing, with Cape Verde being considered one of the surprise packages for this year’s AFCON.
