The Head Coach for the Senior National Team, Black Stars James Kwesi Appiah, has said, he is happy with the contribution of new players who featured for the team in the international friendly game against Namibia, last Sunday.
According to coach Appiah, the players gave good accounts of themselves, adding that they would serve as a good competition for the old players.
He said the likes of Mohammed Alhassan, Abdul Fatawu Safui, Musah Nuhu, Yaw Yeboah and Samuel Owusu had brought a healthy competition into camp and “that is what i’m seeking for”.
In an interview with the media in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) after the friendly, he said, he was satisfied with the output of the playing body in the past few days, adding that it was a good condition for any team going into a competition such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“Our training has been going on well so far, we are having a lot of team work at the beach, field and the gym, doing a lot of intensive work especially this being the first week of our camping, where you can do a lot of intensive training.
“The new players are doing well by giving others real competition and that healthy competition is what I need in the team,” he stated.
Coach Appiah mentioned that the team had had all it needed in terms facilities for training, which were in excellent conditions.
He is expected to name his final list of 23 to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) by close of work on Tuesday, June 11, as the team prepares to take on south Africa on 14th June, 2019 in another international friendly.
