Ghana’s Coach Otto Addo has defended left-back Baba Rahman after the player came under immense criticism from the public in the Black Stars’ 2-3 loss to Portugal. The former Chelsea defender has been thrown under the bus following his defensive errors costing the Black Stars all three points.

A pass from playmaker Bruno Fernandes went through the legs of Rahman for Joao Felix to slot home for Portugal’s second goal and the 28year old has been accused of a defensive howler leading to the goal by the fans of the Black Stars.

Nevertheless, Otto Addo says Baba Rahman defended well in the game and made some descent passes into the opponents’ half of which one resulted in an assist for Osman Bukari’s headed goal for Ghana in the 89th minute.

“He defended so well and if you mention his mistake, you should also mention his contributions. Don’t only mention some crucial thing but also point out that he defended so well and he had some good passes up front, really, really good”.

“He was a little bit too wide, coming inside and the ball went through his legs and really, really unlucky but it is difficult to stop a ball when you are running sideways”.

Ghana is currently rocked at the bottom of Group H with no points and will play South Korea on Monday, November 28 at the Education City Stadium in Ar-Rayyan. In the other group game, the Koreans drew 0-0 with Uruguay yesterday.
