This weekend, the 2021/22 Volta Regional Division Two League will kick off across various league centers in the Volta and Oti regions.
The league would determine who represents the region in the 2022/2023 Division One League season.
Sixty-two (62) clubs from four (4) different zones, (Southern A, Southern B, Central, and Northern Zones) will be in contention for the enviable Division One League slot.
Clubs are expected to excel in the preliminaries for the penultimate Regional Middle League thereafter the ultimate winner of the Regional Middle League becomes the Regional Champion and gains promotion to the National Division One League.
The regional FA has also introduced an Elite Cup, the Regional FA Cup, this will be played along side the Division Two League for a possible representation in the MTN FA CUP.
Ahead of the start of the league, GBC Volta Star Radio Sports paid a visit at the training grounds of Vora FC, one of the oldest and familiar names in the history of Volta Region’s football.
Sporting Director of Vora FC, Dzifa Asamoah has expressed the club’s preparedness ahead of the league.
“We are set we are ready to kick off with our opponent. My boys are very motivated and ready for the season,” Mr. Asamoah said.
Mr. Asamoah revealed the club’s focus this season will be on the development of players compared to becoming a regional champion and chasing the Division One League slot.
“Most of our boys are young, I am not bent on qualifying though I am not ruling it out, my focus is developing the boys for the game and the future” He added.
Vora FC will kick off their season against Freedom Fighter on Saturday at the Ho Sports Stadium in Central Zone B.
Fourteen newly promoted side will be part of this season league.
On Friday, newly promoted side, Iron Breakers will feature in a season’s opener against Agbogba FC at the Diamond Cement Park.
