Dreams FC defeated Rivers United by 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the CAF Confederation Cup in Kumasi on Sunday, December 3, 2023.
“The Still Believe Boys” went ahead when John Antwi scored in the 35th minute before Abdul Aziz Issah added the second in the 75th minute. After Dreams FC took a comfortable lead, Rivers United staged a comeback with an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game [90+4] through Alex Oyowah, but that wasn’t enough to secure a draw or a win for them.
Despite losing their first game in Tunisia, the defending FA Cup champions didn’t back down as they restored parity and momentum to move up the standings and sit second in their group with a precious three-point gain at home to cap their wonderful performance.
This win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will go down in the history books as their first win in a competitive African competition on home soil.
By virtue of the win at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Dreams FC will take on Angola’s Academia Petroleos do Lobito in the third group fixture.
