Former Ghana international defender and Asante Kotoko legend Godfred Yeboah, popularly known as TV3, has died.

Yeboah played for Asante Kotoko for nine seasons and left the club in 2008 to Wa All Stars after winning the 2007/08 Ghana Premier League trophy with Kotoko.

The 41-year-old is said to have been unwell for some time now and was taken to the hospital but passed away Tuesday morning.

Godfred Yeboah started his professional football career with B.A United and became a cult hero among the club’s top hierarchy and supporters before joining Asante Kotoko in 2001

In Kumasi, his classy style of play on the left wing, as well as clean and smooth defending, earned him the nickname TV3. He was with Kotoko until 2008 when he parted ways with the club.

Yeboah died at the Sunyani Government Hospital and the family is now preparing to officially notify Asante Kotoko and Ghana FA since he was a former international.

Godfred Yeboah made his Black Stars debut in 2003 against Benin in an international friendly. He went on to make four appearances in total before hanging his boots.
