The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a forthcoming meeting with two of the league’s most prominent clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC. Scheduled for Monday, February 17, the discussion will focus on addressing security concerns raised by the clubs, which are critical to ensuring the safety and integrity of matches within the Premier League.
In addition to the developments surrounding the safety and integrity of matches within the Premier League, the GFA has expressed its strong commitment to the establishment of the proposed Autonomous Premier League, urging top-flight clubs to expedite its implementation. In a statement released on Saturday, the GFA revealed that the league has been officially registered as a company with the Registrar of Companies in Ghana, with the Implementation Committee, led by His Majesty Togbe Afede XIV, having opened its bank accounts.
The GFA further clarified that the management of the Autonomous Premier League has been transferred to the Premier League clubs. This transition means that members of the Implementation Committee will be replaced on the Board by directors from the 18 participating clubs, marking a significant step towards club autonomy in the league’s operations. The association emphasized the importance of this process, stating that each Premier League club must submit its designated board representative to serve on the Autonomous Premier League Limited Board.
