The 2022 U-17 tournament has been launched by the Ghana Football Association. The competition is slated to kick off on Saturday 10th September 2022 at the Madina Astro Turf.
Teams have been grouped into 2 groups of 6 for the second edition of the youth competition. Group A comprises of Great Corinthians Juniors, Kitase Action Boys, Kumasi Barcelona Babies, Wa Yasin FC Colts, Kintampo Manchester FC and Battor Delali FC while Group B consists of Soccer Masters Colts Club, Bassani FC, Breman Professionals FC, Forsee FC, Benab Ajax Sports Academy and Tamale Real Republicans.
These 12 teams will be competing for the ultimate prize of 20,000 cedis as well as a trophy, whilst the first, second, and third runners-up will get 10,000, 5,000, and 3,000 cedis respectively. In addition, all participating teams will get jerseys and other equipment from KGL.
Speaking at the launch of the KGL U-17 Inter Club Champions League a very proud GFA President, Kurt Okraku sang the praises of sponsors as well as the “Catch them Young Referee Policy”. According to him, the GFA will take care of every team’s transportation, feeding, and accommodation. Each team will receive 20 balls, jerseys, bibs and cones. “
Meanwhile, committee member Augustine Arhinful urged corporate Ghana to join in and support this project, which aims to identify and nurture talent at the colt level.
