The president of the Ghana Football Association, (GFA) Kurt Okraku, has called on the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) of Ho, Richard Divine Bosson, to assist in the development of football in the Volta Region.
The meeting with the MCE forms part of the activities of the President’s working visit to the region.
The two had fruitful discussions on the development and investment of the sport, they discussed matters of officiating, and talent hunt including strategies to enhance football in the region.
“It will take people like you to continue to have an interest in the sport and help us bring the young ones on.” Mr. Okraku said.
“Refereeing needs more attention, the attention comes in different folds, recruiting the mature ones, investing in their passion, and giving them games to practice their passion.” He added.
Mr. Okraku added that stakeholders must be extremely patient with the “Catch Them Young” policy and refereeing in general.
“Football is an emotive sport people react to. they love the sport we should also remember that our officials need time to develop and continue with the investment drive”
“We need to be extremely patient with these young ones as young as they are they will make mistakes, we need to be extremely patient to ensure that over some time, they all grow gradually, “he added.
The MCE was glad to receive the FA Capo and his entourage. He was happy with the state of football development in the region and implored more room for improvement.
“This is the first time, the chairman of the RFA is sorting sponsorship, whether big or small there is a sponsorship and this administration is doing well, I‘ll be the first one to rebuke him if it is wrong and praise him when it’s going well. They have to take officiating seriously.” He said.
Present at the meeting was the GFA Chief of Staff, Michael Osekere, the President of Dreams FC, Jiji Mohammed, the Vice Chairman of GHALCA, John Ansah, the Chairman of Greater Accra RFA, Samuel Oboabiri, and members of the Division One League Board, Sheikh Tophic Abdul-Kadir Sienu and Eugene Noel Nobel.
The Volta Regional FA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah, and his Executive Council members, along with the Presiding Member of the Ho municipality, Mawunyo Agbe were present.
