At the 2024 Convocation of Congress held at the Ghana Men’s Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram, President Simeon Okraku emphasized the crucial role of prioritizing youth football.

He stressed that it is essential for all stakeholders in Ghanaian football to recognize the need to invest more in youth development.

Okraku stated, “We must institute policies that support clubs in developing talent competitively, making our leagues more attractive.”

This announcement was made on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at the Congress, where the Ghana Football Association (GFA) declared its commitment to placing youth football at the forefront of its development agenda.

The GFA has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to revitalize grassroots football, aiming to strengthen the foundation of Ghanaian football.

This strategy, already in motion, demonstrates the GFA’s dedication to ensuring the long-term vitality of the sport at all levels.

Key initiatives include training 1,600 young referees through the “Catch Them Young” refereeing policy and introducing the Elite National Girls U15 Challenge Cup, developed in line with FIFA’s talent development scheme. These efforts aim to identify and nurture top talent, enhancing Ghanaian football.
