Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum, the owner and financier of Elmina Sharks Football Club, has launched a scathing critique of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the alleged misappropriation of FIFA funds, highlighting a concerning neglect of clubs and players. In a Facebook post dated February 3, 2025, Ndoum called for a significant restructuring of the GFA, accusing its leaders of profiting from FIFA resources while leaving the grassroots of Ghanaian football in a state of disarray.

Ndoum’s frustration was palpable as he questioned the nation’s complacency in the face of repeated tragedies and financial instability affecting the Black Stars. He emphasized, “The GFA needs a serious overhaul. A few people at the top feed on FIFA money and leave the clubs, referees, and players hungry. What are we waiting for? More deaths, bankruptcies, and Black Stars losses?”

In a fervent appeal to the Ghanaian public, Ndoum urged fans to recognize the dwindling entertainment value of the country’s football leagues. He posed a critical question: “When will Ghanaians recognize that our football leagues don’t qualify as entertainment platforms?” This statement reflects a growing sentiment among fans who feel disillusioned by the current state of the league.

The backdrop to Ndoum’s comments is the tragic death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, a passionate supporter of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, who was fatally stabbed during a home match against Nsoatreman FC on February 2, 2025. The incident occurred at Nana Koromansah II Stadium, adding to the mounting concerns over safety and violence in Ghanaian football venues.
