The much anticipated sports event of the year, the 2023 Africa Basketball Festival, had a remarkable opening ceremony on Friday, December 15, 2023.
The 2023 Africa Basketball Festival has teams from Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, and Liberia making the Africa Contest and the USA, France and Great Britain making the International Contest.
Ghana, going into this tournament as the defending champion, is very optimistic of causing another upset by retaining their trophy when they come up against the likes of Nigeria, Togo, etc.
In an interview with gbcghanaonline, the head coach of team Ghana, Albert Ato Sackey, disclosed that no team in this year’s tournament is up to the standard of his team, as they are much more prepared to cause another upset to all the visiting teams on the 16th and 17th of December.
“My team is up and ready for the tournament. We are going to for sure retain our trophy; no team is up and ready to take it from us,” Albert Ato Sackey stated.
He further added that Nigeria might give his team a contest, but his team stands against all odds.
