Ghana defender Kwadwo Asamoah insists he left Italian giants Inter Milan because “things were getting worse” for him at the club at the start of his third season with the team.
The 32-year-old agreed to terminate his contract with Inter during the summer transfer window after struggling to break into the first following spells on the sidelines with injury.
“I don’t complain, even if I don’t play. Obviously, I would like to play, but I’m not going to ask the coach why he doesn’t let me play,” he told BBC Sports.
“At the beginning of the third season at Inter I realized that things were getting worse, the best thing to do was to redesign everything and focus on continuing my career.
“Everyone at Inter has always treated me very well. When I explained my situation to them, they understood me. We made an agreement and they let me go without problems,” he concluded.
Asamoah was close to joining Sampdoria in the summer transfer window but the move fell through at the eleventh hour.
He has been linked with moves to the MLS, with clubs in the serie A pursuing him for his services.
The versatile player has played for Udinese, Juventus and Inter Milan in Italy.
