Ghana’s Black Galaxies edged another step further towards their qualification bid for the African Nations Championships, CHAN 2023, with a two-nil win against the Super Eagles’ B of Nigeria at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Ghanaians defended their home grounds by dominating the game, generally forcing their way into the goal area of their Nigerian counterparts but failed initially to capitalise on the numerous chances they had.
However, the team’s performance paid off in the 49th minute when Accra Hearts of Oak’s striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh netted the ball through a spot kick for the first goal, sending the whole stadium into a state of jubilation from the Ghanaian fans.
The second goal came in the dying embers of the game when the Galaxies displayed beautiful teamwork at the goal area of the Nigerians for a final tap into the net by the foot of Suraj Seidu.
The win is a positive step in Ghana’s possible qualification to the CHAN tournament in Algeria after failing to make it in the last three editions.
