The Ghana Roll Ball Federation is bracing itself for the upcoming Roll Ball World Cup scheduled for the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Delhi in India November this year.

The competition which happens to be the 5th edition will see forty (40) participating countries worldwide including fifteen (15) from Africa to compete for laurels in the biennial championship.

Ghana will be making her first appearance at the tourney which commenced in 2011, Pune, India and will present 12 athletes with six on the field and the remaining as reserves.

“Team Ghana have started preparations ahead of the competition in a bid to win the ultimate and make the nation proud,” Johnson Gameli Kportufe, President of Roll Ball Federation Ghana disclosed in an interview.

“We are serious working on preparing the team for the tournament. It has always been my desire to give these boys meaningful life through the sport.”

“Hopefully if we are able to compete in the World Cup, it will confirm my plans for these boys. We cannot leave everything in the hands of government to do it for us so I’m appealing to the corporate bodies to assist us in a form of sponsorship to lessen the financial burden on us.”

Roll Ball is a game played between two teams. It is played on Roller Shoes and each team consists of 12 players, six on the field and six in reserve.
