Ghanaian striker Jerry Afriyie has officially joined Saudi Arabia Pro League side Al-Qadsiah FC on a permanent contract. The 18-year-old forward, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s brightest young talents, has signed a lucrative three-and-a-half-year deal with the Saudi giants, marking a new chapter in his burgeoning career.
Afriyie’s rise to prominence has been nothing short of extraordinary. He began his journey at lower division side Thoughts FC, where his exceptional skills and goal-scoring ability quickly caught the attention of scouts. His remarkable performances have not only made him a household name in Ghana but have also positioned him as a promising poster boy for the nation in international football.
The young striker’s talent has been recognized on the international stage, culminating in his debut call-up to the Black Stars for a crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger. His inclusion in the national team underscores his rapid development and the faith that coaches have in his abilities to contribute at the highest level of competition.
Afriyie’s achievements in 2024 have further solidified his status as a rising star. He played a pivotal role in Ghana’s success at the African Games, where he emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, showcasing his knack for finding the back of the net. His golden boot-winning performance at the WAFU B Championship and his contributions to the U-20 team’s gold medal win at the African Games in March have made him a key figure in Ghana’s youth football landscape.
Despite a setback with the Black Galaxies in the qualifying round for the CHAN tournament against Nigeria, Afriyie’s leadership skills shone through as he guided the Ghana U20 team to qualify for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
