The Black Meteors of Ghana have been paired in Group A alongside host nations Morocco, Congo, and Guinea for the 2023 U-23 Total Energies AFCON to be played in Morocco.
The draw which featured Ghana and seven other nations took center stage at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Rabat, Morocco.
The other group (Group B) comprised of 2019 winners Egypt, Mali, Gabon, and Niger respectively.
The tournament which us set aside for players under the age of 23 will kick off on Saturday, June 24 and end on July 8, 2023, in the North African country.
The U-23 AFCON will serve as qualifiers for next year’s Olympic Games slated for Paris, France. The top 3 countries will book their ticket to the Olympics, while the 4th placed team will engage in an intercontinental play-off against a team from Asia to decide the final slot at the Olympics.
The Black Meteors will hope to qualify to the Olympics for the first time since 2004 in Greece after missing out on the last edition after placing 4th at the U-23 AFCON held in Egypt 4 years ago.
