Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Royal Ladies have once again claimed the title of champions in the Africa Cup for Club Championship (ACCC), held in Ismaila, Egypt. The women’s hockey team showcased their dominance throughout the tournament, culminating in an impressive final match against Egypt’s Smouha Hockey Club. A decisive performance in the first half, where they scored three goals, secured their victory and reinforced their status as a powerhouse in African hockey.
Vivian Narkuor of the GRA Ladies shone brightly during the tournament, earning both the Best Player and Top Scorer awards with an impressive tally of 13 goals. Additionally, Matilda Addison’s exceptional skills between the posts were recognized as she was named the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. These individual accolades highlight the exceptional talent within the GRA Ladies team as they collectively worked towards their championship title.
The journey to the final saw the GRA Ladies display remarkable consistency and skill. They began their campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory over Nigeria’s Kada Queens, setting the tone for the tournament. In their second group game, they faced the host nation, Sharkia Sporting Club of Egypt, and cruised to a convincing 5-1 win, further solidifying their place as tournament favorites. Their third match saw an astonishing 15-0 thrashing of Uganda’s Kampala Hockey Club, showcasing their offensive prowess and tactical superiority.
In the final group game, the GRA Ladies faced Nigeria’s Delta Queens, where they secured a solid 3-1 victory to book their place in the championship decider. The team’s journey through the tournament highlights their resilience and determination, culminating in a well-deserved title defense.
