Ghana’s weightlifting sensation, Juliana Arkoh, has grabbed four gold medals in the just ended 8th Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship 2019 in Canada over the weekend.
The event which featured twelve (12) countries including the host, Canada, South Africa, USA, Ireland, England and India featured in the highly competitive event which saw Arkoh 21, trembling the auditorium as she mounted the podium four times following her gold medal triumph in dead-lift, squatting, bench press and 105 class weight categories of the competition in nine attempts.
The enterprising athlete made herself and the few Ghanaians proud and forcing the spectators to admire her after her scintillating performance.
Arkoh who won eight medals at the 2013 African Weightlifting Championships held in Casablanca, Morocco which to qualify her as the only Ghanaian athlete to have recorded the maximum number of medals in a single competition fell out of favour with the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) over alleged unpaid per diem and bonuses during the World Youth Championship in Nanjing in 2014.
