The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has appointed Kassim Ocansey ‘Mingle’ as the Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s male U23 football team.

This decision comes on the heels of Maxwell Konadu’s departure to take up a position with South African National First Division side Black Leopards.

Mingle’s appointment marks a significant shift in the team’s leadership, as he brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in talent development to the role.

Kassim Ocansey Mingle is no stranger to Ghanaian football.

Currently the Head Coach of Premier League side Nations FC, he has built a reputation for his keen eye for emerging talent. His previous tenure at Bechem United solidified his status as a key figure in the sport, where he demonstrated an exceptional ability to nurture young players and guide them toward professional success. This expertise will be invaluable as he takes on the challenge of leading the U23 team.

Mingle’s journey in football began long before he donned the coach’s cap. With an active playing career spanning eight years, he showcased his skills with several top-tier teams, including Dumas Boys of GTP and Accra Standfast. His experiences on the pitch have equipped him with a unique perspective on the game, one that he now channels into coaching. This blend of practical experience and coaching acumen positions him as a formidable leader for the Black Meteors.

As he steps into his new role, Mingle is poised to inspire a new generation of football stars. His deep-seated passion for talent development is evident in his coaching philosophy, which emphasises the importance of nurturing players from a young age.

With extensive experience in coaching at the Academy, Colts, and second-tier levels of Ghanaian football, he possesses a comprehensive understanding of player development. This insight will be crucial in shaping the future of the Black Meteors.
