Asante Kotoko’s Justice Blay and three of his teammates, Mohammed Camara, Gilbani O’Neil Ndongani Samba, and Andres Ntim Manu, have been charged with unprofessional conduct following a violent altercation with players from Nsoatreman FC.

The match, held at the Nana Konamansah II Park, escalated into chaos as players from both sides engaged in a brawl that not only disrupted the game but also raised serious concerns regarding player conduct and sportsmanship.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken decisive action, charging six players from Nsoatreman FC for their involvement in the unsporting behaviour that marred the match.

Among those charged is Stephen Diyou, who was sent off during the incident, along with Frank Dongballe, Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, Walid Neymar Fuseini, Mohammed Issaka, and Eric Osei Bonsu.

These players face consequences under Section 12(1)(j) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, which specifically addresses misconduct and unsporting behaviour.

The violent clash has sparked outrage among fans and officials, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of disciplinary measures within the league. The GFA’s swift response indicates a commitment to upholding the integrity of the sport and ensuring that such incidents do not become a regular occurrence. Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC are now under scrutiny, with both teams keen to address the fallout from this incident.

In light of these developments, the league’s governing body is expected to review the footage of the match and may impose further sanctions if deemed necessary. The incident has raised questions about player conduct and the responsibilities of team management in maintaining discipline among their players.

As the situation unfolds, both Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC will need to take proactive measures to prevent similar altercations in the future. The GFA’s actions serve as a reminder that professionalism and respect on the field are paramount, and any breaches of conduct will not be taken lightly.
