President of the Sports Writers’ Association, Kwabena Yeboah has called for a paradigm shift in the restructuring and ownership of the Local Clubs.

Taking a cue from the English League and how it came about, Mr. Yeboah indicated that English Football was so unattractive until someone decided to take a bold step of investment and then television started giving them money which birthed the importation of players from other Continents and gave them that recognition.

Comparing Chelsea to other English Clubs, he said “until Abramovich brought in the billions of pounds into Chelsea they had for 50 years not won a Premiership”.

Bringing it home Kwabena indicated that there are some Club Owners who believe because they are traditional, letting go of the Clubs is difficult. Mr. Yeboah however said that until the people learn to do that “we will continue to mark time”.

He added that football is about money and without the needed funds it’s impossible to create the professional football players wanted.

President of the Sports Writers’ Association, Kwabena Yeboah was contributing to the programme, ‘‘Saving Our Passion’‘ on GTV Sports+.
