Cristiano Ronaldo has boldly proclaimed himself “the most complete player to have existed” in a recent interview with Spanish television show El Chiringuit, emphasizing that his impressive statistics support this assertion.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, now 39 years old, continues to break records and solidify his legacy, holding the title of the highest men’s goalscorer in football history with an astonishing 923 goals.
In an extensive conversation with El Chiringuito, Ronaldo stated, “Who’s the best goalscorer in history? It’s about numbers. Full stop.” He elaborated on his incredible scoring versatility, noting that he ranks among the top ten goalscorers with both his left foot and head, despite not being left-footed.
Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo has frequently faced comparisons with Lionel Messi, as both players vie for the title of the best in the world. However, Ronaldo stands firm in his belief that his all-around abilities set him apart.
“Lionel Messi is great but, I think I’m the most complete player to have existed,” he asserted. “I do everything well in football: with my head, free kicks, left foot. I’m fast, I’m strong.”
Despite his age, Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down or contemplating retirement from either club or international football. He stated, “I’m so competitive that sometimes I forget what I’ve achieved a lot, I think that’s the difference with others.”
Lastly, Ronaldo touched on his move to the Saudi Pro League after leaving Manchester United in 2023, expressing frustration with the critical perception surrounding the league’s quality.
“People don’t know, they give their opinion, they talk too much”; he remarked.
