Minority wants a breakdown of expenditure at just ended AFCON from Minister for Sports

The Minister for Sports, Issac Asiamah has disclosed that Government spent about four point five million dollars on the Black Stars before and during the participation in the just ended AFCON in Egypt.

The Minister was in Parliament to brief the House on the Team’s participation in the tournament. According to him, the Ministry budgeted for an amount of six million, 365 thousand and 33 point eight four dollars, but spent four million five hundred and sixty-four thousand, three hundred and fifty-two dollars. He said this is as a result of the team’s early exit from the tournament.

Ranking member on Youth, Sports and Culture Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Woyome demanded a breakdown of the amount spent on MPs who were flown to the tournament as against that on supporters

The Minority in Parliament wants a breakdown of the country’s expenditure at the just ended AFCON in Egypt. To this end, they are calling on the Youth and Sports Minister to appear before the House again and give a detailed account of the Ministry’s budget expended at the AFCON.

Ranking Member on the Youth and Sports Committee, Kobla Mensah Woyome, said the Minister rushed through his presentation of events yesterday, which did not make easy comprehension of how much was spent on what and why.
